Trevor Asmus

CEO, Aurora Las Encinas

Trevor J. Asmus is the CEO of Aurora Las Encinas, an acute psychiatric hospital in Pasadena, California. Las Encinas has been a leader in psychiatric care since its establishment in 1904.

Since becoming CEO in 2019, Trevor has managed Las Encinas’ programmatic expansion via construction of a brand new, 120-bed hospital on campus. Las Encinas currently serves a large and diverse patient population with both mental health and substance use disorder needs.

Among many accomplishments in his current role, Trevor spearheaded a partnership with Los Angeles Department of Mental Health to treat patients transferred from local hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Colloquially named the “Surge Program”, it became a model for public/private partnership in the midst of a public emergency. In another example of his community focus, Trevor organized a partnership with DHS Office of Diversion and Reentry to accept and treat justice-involved, behavioral health patients discharged from the carceral system. Upon completion of this program, many of the DHS/ODR patients have their charges dismissed.

Prior his current role, Trevor held various positions in hospital management, such as COO, Director of Business Development, and Director of Chemical Dependency. A chemical dependency counselor by training, Trevor also held various positions within the residential substance use disorder setting.

Trevor is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from LSU and earned a concentration in healthcare leadership from Harvard Business School. His undergraduate work was done locally at Cal State Northridge. Presently, he is a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) and is retired as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADAC).
